This 1997 NAS Defender 90 Soft Top in British Racing Green is one of only 1,500 North American Specification Defenders brought over that final year — and with 90,500 original miles and three previous owners, it’s had a good life and is ready for plenty more. Under the hood is the 4.0L V8 paired with a ZF automatic transmission and Land Rover’s full-time four-wheel-drive with selectable low range. Factory air conditioning keeps things comfortable when the top stays on.

It rides on new 18-inch black Sawtooth wheels wrapped in fresh BF Goodrich 275/65R18 KO3 tires, and the outside is sorted with a bull bar, rear lamp guards, side running steps, a stainless steel exhaust, and a Rovers North cloth soft top. Inside, you’ll find inward-facing jump seats and a factory rear door subwoofer enclosure.

In 2024, the Defender went through a thorough refurbishment that really brought it to the next level. The British Racing Green received a full paint correction, exterior metals and plastics were refinished, and everything was buttoned up with new alloy hinges and stainless steel hardware throughout. New exterior lighting, fresh interior matting, and the new wheels and tires round out the exterior work. The real standout, though, is the interior — custom leather seating for six, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a leather-wrapped dash give the cabin a feel that’s well above what you’d expect from a Defender. The audio got the same attention, with a new Alpine stereo, Enrock marine speakers, and a Polk DB Marine 8-inch subwoofer filling out the factory rear door enclosure. New bushings and a full service wrap everything up.

It drives as good as it looks — a well-sorted, turn-key ’97 NAS Defender 90 that’s equally at home on a weekend trail run or parked at the curb turning heads.
